Sophie Turner Explains Why She Got Engaged to Joe Jonas So Young

The year 2019 is shaping up to be a pretty major one for actress Sophie Turner. The final season of her hit show, Game of Thrones, begins airing April 14; Dark Phoenix, the X-Men film she stars in, debuts in the summer; and later this year she's set to marry her fiancГ©, Joe Jonas.

At just 23 years old, some may question why the rush to the altar-especially for fans who have quite literally watched her grow up playing Sansa Stark (a character who was burned by a few bad marriages at a young age, to say the least). In fact, before meeting Jonas, she might have agreed with those fans. “I was fully preparing myself to be single for the rest of my life,” Turner told Rolling Stone in a new interview. But meeting Joe changed her perspective on life and love. “I think once you've found the right person, you just know. I feel like I'm much older a soul than I am in age. I feel like I've lived enough life to know. I've met enough guys to know-I've met enough girls to know. I don't feel 22. I feel like 27, 28.” (Yes, she did also mention girls. “Everyone experiments,” she added to the magazine. “It's part of growing up. I love a soul, not a gender.”)

The actress previously told Glamour UK about her relationship with Jonas. "A lot of my happiness now is to do with being with a person I've fallen in love with, who loves me more than he loves himself, and who wants to see me find my own happiness. That was probably the biggest thing that pushed me to find who I am-and find my happiness in things other than acting.”

We don't know many details about the pair's wedding yet, but Jonas did previously reveal that it will happen sometime this summer-and that contact sports will be involved. "I thought for the first time I'd be marrying into a family where I'd become a soccer fan, like a football fan, like find my allegiance for a team. So her whole family doesn't like football; they like rugby. So now I have to figure that out," he said. "We're going to have a flag rugby game at the wedding and a flag football game. So if all the groomsmen show up with black eyes and broken arms, I'll be very proud."

Hopefully, they'll be kind enough to post a highlight reel for the rest of us to see.
